Presenter: Camas Educational Network in partnership with Tammie Stark (rainwater consultant), Energy Design, and Northwest Youth Corps.
The workshop will explore ways a rainwater cistern (as small as 50 gallons) in a schoolyard can function as an educational tool to advance everyday curriculum. We will discuss how rainwater catchment can successfully support benchmarks associated with grade specific state-wide educational standards as well as advance water conservation, protection of drinking water, and environmental stewardship. Participants will collaborate to construct a low cost and efficient rainwater cistern system to support a school garden greenhouse at the Laurel Valley Farm on the Northwest Youth Corps campus.
