1) Restoration Assistant for Summer 2010 with the Long Tom Watershed Council

The internship runs from June 25 to August 25 and the application deadline is June 15.
Position Description: The restoration intern will be responsible for a variety of duties at the Council’s office and at field sites throughout the Long Tom Watershed, including:
· Removing invasive weeds from Council restoration sites
· Caring for our re-vegetation projects. This will include watering, mulching, and applying deer repellent to planted trees and shrubs.
· Data management/entry from our ongoing initiatives
· Other duties could be assigned to the intern based on Council need and the intern’s abilities, including: water quality monitoring, restoration project effectiveness monitoring, GIS, and a variety of administration tasks.

Position Summary: The Cultural and Ecological Interpreter will
participate in producing interpretive programs and projects as they
relate to the parkąs interpretive features, and further the
implementation of the Sumpter Valley Dredge Interpretive Plan. These
projects may include but may not be limited to; developing interpretive
programs for school age children, developing living history programs,
building descriptive props, natural or environmental programs as they
relate to the dredge tailings, and expand on current Dredge tours and
mining demonstrations. The position offers an opportunity to increase
your knowledge of eastern Oregonąs flora and fauna, and to expand your
presentation skills while engaging the public in learning more
themselves.

4) The Smithsonian Gardens Internship Fall 2010
The Smithsonian Gardens designs, manages, and maintains the gardens and grounds of the many Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C., which attract over twenty million visitors each year. We also develop horticulture displays and exhibitions for exterior and interior museum spaces. The Smithsonian gardens and grounds serve as “outdoor museums” designed to complement the buildings they border and to enhance the overall visitor experience of learning, appreciation, and enjoyment. Fall internship applications are due June 1.
