Students and volunteers at Fairfield Elementary lend a hand in the creation of butterfly and vegetable gardens.

On a rainy Wednesday morning, Jared Pruch from the School Garden Project (SGP) led volunteers in a number of garden expansion activities including mulching the school garden paths at Fairfield Elementary. The Camas Educational Network collaborated with SGP by designing and implementing two butterfly gardens to attract pollinators and serve as a resource to demonstrate the value of creating pollinator habitat adjacent to vegetable gardens. In the afternoon, the sun came out just in time for the student garden club to assist with planting the butterfly garden, herb beds and strawberry beds.
