This workshop explores ways that a rainwater cistern (as small as 50 gallons) in a schoolyard can function as an educational tool that ties into everyday curriculum. We will discuss how rainwater catchment can successfully support science and math lessons, water conservation, and environmental stewardship. Together we will build a low cost and efficient rainwater cistern to support a school garden greenhouse at the Laurel Valley Farm on the Northwest Youth Corps campus.
